Our Week of 'Sundays'

Living in the South, any 'chance of snow' sends everyone in to a 'euphoric' frenzy.
(We never get snow days....and they are not 'built in' to the school calenders.)

By 'euphoria', I mean all the kids go bananas and think that the front yard will turn in to something akin to Vail...'where's the sled?....where are my boots?...do we have hot cocoa?...will I have to do my homework?'
The Cast of 'Frozen' is inevitably going to show up, and help make snowmen.
'It's gonna be JUST like in the MOVIES!'
'We can make an IGLOO!'

Ummm.'Yeah!'

Parents wonder....'do we have milk?....do we have gas for the car?...where the heck did I store that sidewalk salt?...Crap. Where IS all the kids snow stuff?...What is the wine supply looking like?'
Working (outside the home) parents wonder... 'who can watch my kids?...what if I get stuck at work?'

A resounding 'SHIT.' can be heard from ALL parents when the call is made----and 'School is Cancelled Tomorrow.'

It was Monday night....but....really? In the kids minds, it was Friday all over again!
(No homework! 'Kindle' all night. We can sleep in!...'woooohooooo!')

Yes, school was closed Tuesday because the 'winter blast' was going to 'be impacting our area by noon!'
(I love how the weather people can whip everyone up in to a frenzy...and, I wonder how those gals 'on the scene' keep those false eyelashes on during such 'powerful winds'.)

By noon Tuesday? We has NO snow....no 'horrible precipitation'....no 'treacherous roads and black ice'.
My son spent Tuesday fishing with his buddies.
My daughters alternated taking 'long winter's naps', playing 'MindCraft', and asking me over and over and over again....'when will the snow start?"

Around 7pm....
after a full day of schedules 'out the window'....laundry....cleaning....etc.
(I mean, heck. MY day didn't change much...)
....we finally got....(wait for it....)....SNOW!

And, for the record:
The 'snow' apparently is the signal for my 3 dogs to start their 'bladder holding Olympics'...
'Nuh-uh. NOPE. Shit's falling from the sky...I can't go out in THAT!...Nope.'
(~sigh~)

Anyway....again...we all listened to the NONSTOP 'Holy-Crap-We-Are-All-Gonna-Die! Release the hounds....Hide the Virgins' weather reporting.
Yup. 'Schools will be closed Tuesday due to inclement weather...'
('SHIT.')

Tuesday morning, I have to say, it really was pretty. A blanket of snow....covering the mud in my backyard...making me forget we have no grass.
It was still and quiet. And lovely.

My son went out galavanting with his 'Band of Brothers'---all of them decked out in camo and big BIG hunting boots...to return, later, (frozen and smelling like campfire smoke), to the confines of the TV room, and Xbox. My youngest had a 'pajama day'...played MindCraft (Gawd, how I dislike that game---another story for another time, yall.)...Me? Drumming my fingers on the table...trying to come up with 'educational and creative' things for the kids to 'do'.
I fed the children. I made sure they were warm.
I did MORE laundry.
I cleaned up snowy boot prints and mud.
....and the dogs? Continued their 'Bladder Olympics'.

Tuesday night....
(re-read above)
Wednesday....'No School'...'roads are treacherous...'
(Say it with me....'SHIT.')
OK. OK. OK!

Finally got my dogs outside Wednesday....'Golden Bear' rolling in the snow...loving it! My pseudo-hunting dog...HATING IT. High stepping through the cold snow. The tiny dog? 'Oh hell no....nope.'

SURELY....the kids would have school Thursday!
ummmmm. NO.
(re-read above)
....and Friday?....No school.
Like I said.

It was a like week of Sundays....'wasn't this fun to have a snow day?'
....got that homework done....actually READ a BOOK!....la-la-laaahhhhh!
School will be awesome tomorrow! Oh, wait...
Now, the weekend is here!
2 MORE days....HOME!
Oh! HUZZAH!
(say it with me Parents!...'SHIT.')
